2010-2011

 

A meeting of the Grants Committee for the above scheme was held on 17 March 2011 in National Archives of India, New Delhi under the Chairpersonship of Dr (Ms) T. Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

 

The members who were present in the meeting is at Annexure-I

 

2. Welcoming the Members, the Chairperson apprised them of the aims and objectives of the Scheme. She also informed that a comprehensive review of the Scheme has already taken place, which envisages, inter alia, a substantial increase in the grant amount.  The Chairperson emphasized the need for a proper monitoring mechanism for proper utilization of the grants amount released.  The present meeting has been convened in response to the advertisement published on 26 December, 2010. 

3. The members of the Grants Committee were briefed about the Agenda (Part A) which consisted  of 29 complete cases,  out of which 16 cases were from States other than North East i.e. Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal & 13 cases from North East States (Assam).

Subsequently, the Agenda items were taken up for consideration and the following decisions taken by the Grants Committee:

 

Part A -I-States other than North-East

 

a.       The Grants Committee considered 16 proposals which were complete in all aspects, out of which 13 cases from the State of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal were recommended.

(In the case of Darul Musannefin Shibli Academy, Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, the Grants Committee authorized the Director General of Archives, to take an appropriate decision to enhance the amount  recommended by the State Level Screening Committee keeping in view of the reputation of the Academy and considering the contribution it has made in preservation of Documentary Heritage).

PART B

 

The Chairperson also examined/scrutinized the proposals (incomplete cases in Part B) and observed that some of the Institutions are of repute whose proposals merit consideration. Accordingly, the Committee recommended 4 cases for financial assistance subject to fulfilment of settlement of earlier grants sanctioned to them /submission of Utilization Certificates.

4. Grants Committee recommended a total grant                            =`38,43,309/- *

 

* It was agreed that it may not be possible to release the said amount recommended by the Committee in the current financial year 2010-11  which is drawing to a close because of time constraints to complete the procedural formalities. The recommended amount will be released during the next financial year 2011-2012 from the allotted fund.

5. The Grants Committee did not recommend financial assistance to the following:
